Driven by Research

Collaborative, creative, interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial research opportunities exist in the areas of Sociology and Political Science, Psychology, the Humanities, Geography and Archaeology, Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, and Education.

Research students of the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Celtic Studies have the opportunity to work, study and share their research experiences with more than 320 postgraduate researchers and academics covering a broad range of disciplines, themes and historical eras from the medieval to the modern.

We provide a broad range of PhD and Masters level research programmes.

We also encourage Irish students to avail of international study and placement opportunities across the globe.

Visiting students spending a year or semester in the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Celtic Studies at NUI Galway can chose from the wide range of courses on offer to full time undergraduate students in the College. The policy of the College is that students should attend the same courses and sit the same examinations as NUI Galway students.
